Mining & Minerals

Process automation for concentrator plants, tailings pumping, acid plants and flocculation.

Mining process plant is unforgiving: continuous operation, aggressive materials, and consequences that are environmental as well as commercial when control fails.

Ivevane delivers process automation for concentrator plants, tailings pumping systems, acid plants and flocculation plants — areas named explicitly in the company's capability, and among the most demanding process control environments in the sector.

What goes wrong, and what we do about it

The mining & minerals control problem.

  • Continuous process control with no shutdown windowControl strategies written for continuous operation, with changeover and maintenance modes designed in rather than improvised on the day.
  • Tailings and slurry handling under variable loadPump and slurry control tuned against real load variation, including the surge and starvation conditions that trip a naive controller.
  • Instrumentation reliability in aggressive environmentsInstrumentation selected for abrasive, wet and corrosive service, with diagnostics that flag drift before failure.
  • Safety and environmental compliance evidenceSafety instrumented functions assessed to SIL, with the documentation an environmental or safety audit will actually ask for.
Typical architecture

How the control stack is usually built.

Every plant differs, but the layers rarely do. This is the shape most projects in this sector take.

  1. 01 · SupervisoryPlant SCADA, alarm management and reporting
  2. 02 · Process controlPLC or DCS — concentrator, tailings, flocculation
  3. 03 · SafetySafety instrumented systems, SIL-rated functions
  4. 04 · NetworkFibre-backed industrial Ethernet across the plant
  5. 05 · FieldFlow, density, level and pressure instrumentation; MCC and drives

Questions

What operators usually ask.

Do you work on mobile plant as well as fixed?

Yes. Control enclosures on mobile mining machines are part of our delivered work, including retrofits of distributed I/O into existing machine frames.

What does SIL determination involve?

Assessing each safety function against the risk it mitigates, establishing the integrity level required, then verifying the installed system achieves it. It produces documentation that stands up to audit — which is the point.

Can you support a plant that runs continuously?

Yes. 24-hour remote dial-in, telephone and on-site support, with breakdown response. Continuous plant is precisely where response time matters most.
